DESCRIPTION
First leg of this shipping requirement was for land transport from factory in Nancy to the river port of Frouard. At Frouard the azipod was handled by a gantry crane that transferred the unit on board of a river vessel. River transportation was used till the designated seaport, Rotterdam. At Rotterdam unit has been transferred by the cranes of the sea vessel. As this transport was very strict in terms of delivery, a special vessel has been chosen for dedicated voyage having a speed of 19 knots enabling it to reach the destination with 4 spare days – as coverage for eventual weather or force majeure related delays. In order to make sure that the voyage would go smoothly even special passage agreement has been made with the Panama Canal authorities.
