NMT was awarded a repeat order of the previous St. Lucia LUCELEC job with shipment of the main components.
The 45 ton transformer and 60 ton generator were shipped from Rauma, Finland
while the 206 ton diesel engine was feedered from Triëste, Italy to
Antwerp for onward shipment to Castries, St. Lucia.
This time the job was slightly more challenging:
- a very confined and crowded jobsite
- no smooth concrete floor loading bay but an earth ramp with a steep inclination
and short radius 90 degree turn,offering very little traction.
With the help of 3 x CAT 966 wheelloaders we managed to get the engine "on top"
- access to the transformer foundation at a 90 degree angle requireing
lifting and overhang of 2 axle lines as well as the use of a gantry system.
The engine and generator were "married" with the LUCELEC boss as "witness"
