NMT Projects was awarded this shipment by SBM Offshore for the shipment of a 265 Tonnes Calm buoy from Abu Dhabi to Ras Lanuf. Due to shallow draft at the manufacturers berth, we where required to tow the buoy from Mussafah to Mina Zayed Port (also Abu Dhabi) for loading onto the vessel. The buoy was lifted onboard and then using the ship's other crane, the chain stoppers were individually lowered into place. There was another problem that the chain stoppers had an overlap of approximately 50cm at the bottom and therefor had to be lashed in place or else the buoy would not be able to be seated on the dunnage wood provided on deck. |
